About Dr. Jamal Rasheed

Dallas, Texas - Sociologist, Educator, Film Producer, Author, past national officer of  Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., and Servant of God.

Jamal Randy Allen Rasheed is a sociologist with experience in secondary education, abstinence education, prostate cancer education, criminal justice, adult and juvenile probation, behavior management, curriculum development, and film production.  Dr.. Rasheed was born Randy Clifford Allen, December 15, 1953  in Memphis, Tennessee to George  and Laura Allen He  was raised on the Southside of Chicago where is parents moved to in 1957.  He graduated from the prestigious John M. Harlan High School (Academy) in 1972 and earned his Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Journalism with a minor in English and African American Studies from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.  In addition to his B.S. Degree, Mr. Rasheed also has a Master of Arts Degree in Sociology from Prairie View A&M University at Prairie View, Texas. 

 

While attending Prairie View, Mr. Rasheed completed the King Scholars Program in 1984 as part of his independent study at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Center for Non-Violent Social Change in Atlanta, Georgia under the direction of the late Mrs. Coretta Scott King, wife of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  Dr. Rasheed ‘s most current curriculum is entitled “From Every Mountainside Non-Violence” Peace Advocate Program,  was copywriten in 2011 and addresses violence and  bullying among school age youth.  Mrs. Coretta Scoot King, in autographing a book for me said, “Go out and make a difference,” this curriculum was  my answer. Dr. Rasheed completed his Ph.D program from  Newburgh Theological Seminary and College in the field of African American Ministry in June 2012.

 

Dr. Rasheed is listed in the 6th Addition of Who’s Who in Black America, has received numerous awards and proclamations from Dallas, Irving, Richardson, Lancaster, Desoto, Cedar Hill, Duncanville, Mesquite, Garland, Dallas County and Tarrant County Texas for providing prostate cancer education and screening in the community. Mr. Rasheed was recognition by President George W. Bush for his prostate cancer education initiative program in 2002.   Mr. Rasheed also serves as president of the Ellis County African American Hall of Fame of Waxahachie, Tx. and The Prince Hall Fraternal Cemetery Association in Waxahachie , TX. The philosophy of Mr. Rasheed is, “Each one should teach one, take a youth by the hand, teach them to understand, and lead them to serve mankind where he will be a part of the solution not the problem."
