About Joshua Schuler

Boulder, Colorado - Self Sovereign

Adopted into a loving family by the age of one I was firmly planted into good soil.  My family, a family of three, consisted of my adoptive father, mother, and their biological daughter 6 years my senior.  Throughout my early upbringing I’d be found spending vast amounts of my free time outside exploring the corners of my suburban community of Broomfield Colorado.   My father was a police officer and detective for the Broomfield department but spent his time moonlighting as a farmer/rancher.  His heart always lay with the soil and animals of the pasture.  We raised Texas Longhorn cattle and seasonally yielded bountiful crops of garden veggies from land shared by family friends all a mere mile and ditch crossing from our front doorstep.  By contrast, my mother was in the telecom industry working for then USWEST in downtown Denver.  She spent much of her career in a corporate environment that demanded much of her.  Life was full of these contrasts inside and outside the home.  My Sister had always wanted a sibling.  And she swiftly made up for lost time when I came into the family.  She’s always been a proud older Sister.  And we have remained close even across great distance.

At the age of 8 my parents divorced after 25 years of marriage.  It was a tough period that fractured my family into two.  My mom relocated with my sister to Atlanta Georgia. I chose to stay with my Father.  Time with my mom and sister would now be reduced to a few holiday visits annually.  Both parents remarried, most notably, my Dad marrying a local school teacher and single mother of three older boys.  It was a defining transition period in my life that yielded a newly formed family.  With time, patience and Love we developed as a blended family.  I always secretly wanted an older brother.  Three definitely foot the bill!  Today we all have spread to the corners of the United States but continue to share in each other’s lives supporting one another through all.

I have gone to college, lived abroad with a biological aunt and uncle, and learned a new language.  I have experienced loss of life, work, relationships and friendships and gained the inverse of these.  Currently I live in Boulder Colorado where I have a wonderful woman to share my days with and currently work in new home sales.
